Prince Charles to become King of Romania: blood connection with Dracula

President Traian Basescu’s attacks against King Mihai and the monarchy are reasoned by the the idea that Prince Charles of Great Britain could become king of Romania, writes british tabloid DailyMail.

Prince Charles of Great Britain, already the longest-serving heir to the throne in the history of the United Kingdom, might be pleased to get crowned as King Carol 111 of Romania. The rumours stem from media speculations that led even to an article called “Prince Charles could finally become King of… Romania”

Central European newspapers speculated on Tuesday that Prince Charles might become king of Romania, if the monarchy would be reinstated. “So if Prince Charles ever gets bored of waiting to accede to the throne, then he might be just tempted to have himself crowned King Charles 111 instead”, commented Daily Mail.

“King Michael who led Romania between 1927-1930 and 1940-1947 was forced to abdicate, because communists threatened to carry out mass executions if he refused to leave. Romania has endured decades of communism then, especially under the leadership of Nicolae Ceausescu, who led the country with an iron fist from 1965 until his execution in 1989.”

“Charles is unlikely to be taken seriously as a possible succesor to the throne, because King Michael is still alive – although 90-year-old – and has a family. Despite the return of democracy, there have been more and more calls for monarchy restoration in Romania. And when he disclosed in an interview a few weeks ago that he has blood ties with Romania king Vlad Tepes (Vlad The Impaler aka Dracula), Prince of Wales’ name sparked the rumors and suppositions.”
